FBI works new lead in D.B. Cooper hijacking case

I kinda hope they never catch him. After all this time I like the idea that he got away with the money.
But if the FBI insists on looking, they might want to start with these 3 BYCers:

dbc00per

dbcooper02

dbcooper99

I have often wondered about how much money law enforcement has spent trying to catch him vs. how much money he stole.

Isnt the statute of limitations long past? Is the money he stole even that much anymore? The lady spilled coffee on herself sued mickey d's and got ten times that much. Lets go get her. It has to be criminal to get money for being clumsey. My wife never gives me money for spilling coffee. She has the audacity to expect me to clean it up.

Actually, if you take a moment to read the McDonalds case history you'll see there was a great deal of culpability on the part of MD's. the facts actually show that the lawsuit was a lot less frivious then puiblic opinion would lead one to believe....

As for the DB Cooper case it's a moot pioint, a Federal Grand Jury indicted the suspect years ago so the statute of limitations no longer applies.

Some author wrote a book about litigation extreme cases and went in to depth on this womans case. It was highly publicized as an example of the need for tort reform. What actually happened was that she was an older woman. Around 73 or so. Her son was driving a small economy car and this was back when cars didn't have cup holders. The cup of coffee was heated to 180 degrees and was served in a styrofoam cup with a plastic lid that just had an x incision in the edge where you drank. She was having a difficult time opening the lid while holding the cup, so she placed it between her legs since there was no where else to put it. The coffee was so hot that it had softened the styrofoam and the cup compressed popping the lid off giving her 3rd degree burns on her genetelia and inner thighs.

This was horrible as you can imagine. Yes it was her fault that she spilled it. the reason McDonalds got sued and she won such a high settlement is that McDonalds had been cited 15 times prior to this for keeping their coffee too hot. 180 degree coffee will burn you if you don't let it cool first. Yet they had a company policy that the coffee would be kept at that temperature until served. IMO it is criminal to not only allow a restaurant under your control to have a known safety hazard like that but actually make it a policy too create that hazard. Evidently the jury agreed. It just took a little old lady to bring it to national attention.

I agree that they are wasting money still chasing this guy. As I remember he didn't kill anyone. I wonder if any of the original investigators are even on active duty with the FBI anymore.
